Limiting Self-Beliefs

Challenging our self-limiting beliefs

It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.

 -Denis Waitley-

Many of us do not pursue our dreams because we feel we are not smart enough, capable enough, driven enough, or any number of other inaccurate, limiting self-beliefs.

Regardless of when or how these thoughts came to be, we can all recalibrate our thinking and develop a fresh attitude towards ourselves. No matter how long these thoughts and feelings have lingered, we can reverse them and adopt a positive mindset moving forward.

Do you have justification for your limiting self-beliefs? What proof do you have that your belief system is accurate? Chances are, they are indeed inaccurate and have no validation. The only way to discredit these falsities is to step out of our comfort zone and prove them to be wrong.

Through acts of courage, we allow ourselves the opportunity to learn, evolve and become the capable and resilient humans we are. Once we prove that our self-destructive thoughts are false, our capabilities are endless. Allowing ourselves to discover who lies beneath our self-doubt is a gift we will cherish and continue to evolve from.

Deciding to change and take action requires courage and is often the most challenging part of the journey. But facing our fears and defying our negative belief system are the first steps towards disproving our limiting self-conceptions.

We are ALL capable of achieving clarity and reaching our goals. Indeed, the journey of self-discovery will not necessarily be an easy one. It will be filled with challenges, setbacks, and disappointments. But, if we don’t dare and take risks, we will stagnate and remain unfulfilled, never having the chance to discover our abilities and real potential. We owe it to ourselves to challenge our negative self-perceptions and reharmonize our thoughts and feelings.

Truth be told, our success is often measured by whether or not we reach our ultimate goals. Rather, I believe all the lessons we learn along the way are the treasures that will empower us and direct our thoughts towards positivity and growth.

As we learn to create strategies and discover how to navigate obstacles, we begin to build faith in ourselves that will inspire us to stay motivated and engaged. Our dedication, tenacity, and proactivity will all disprove our negative belief system and direct our confidence to higher levels.

By continuously stepping out of our comfort zone and challenging our self-limiting beliefs, fresh attitudes of optimism will develop as well as a patient and loving relationship with ourselves.

My journey towards eliminating limiting self-beliefs took some time. I invested a lot of energy and consistently applied positive self-talk, reinforcing my attributes, abilities, and past successes.

Presently, when I make decisions to set goals, I take baby steps towards them. By not looking too far ahead, I can remain focused and positive. I work through obstacles and continue to do so patiently without becoming despondent. When I find myself getting discouraged and slipping into negative thoughts, I immediately brush them off. With firm intention and focus, I vigorously move forward with the task at hand.

I accept that not all of my goals will come to fruition, but all the lessons I learn on my journey will nevertheless be empowering and are always worth the effort.

Always remember, even with fear and initial self-doubt, stepping into the arena will empower you and teach you how wonderfully resilient you are. That in itself is a win! Get out there, go for it! Your experience will most definitely be enlightening!

The most important message I share with you is this: if you’re scared, do it anyway!!! The magic starts at that very moment!!!
